room replica 4

I am plagued by the desire to redecorate my living room. It comes in waves... typically after coming across an image of a beautiful living room in a magazine or in a blog. It happened again yesterday. I was cruising through my inbox when up popped the latest post from one of my faves: House of Turquoise. It's one of the highlights of my email experience. And yesterday was no exception. It featured an image from Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles...

This vignette is definitely a bit more subdued than most that send me into a redecorating tizzy, but I love the irreverent pops of blue mixed in with the more traditional lines and neutral tones. It speaks to me! So, I decided to see how I might replicate this beauty on the cheap. What fun! I started with the sofa...

I think that this gorgeous vintage sofa makes a fabulous fill-in for the houndstooth version in our picture. Finding a blue flocked wing back chair on CL wasn't super likely, so this brings in the floral in place of it. At $300, it's perfect! Now for the coffee table...

The coffee table in our pic is very unique - modern, clean lines with a subtle Asian influence. Hard to replicate on my terms. However, I think one could give this $20 table a bath in Mexicali Turquoise and it would make a great stand-in. Done! On to the end tables...

I think this little pair is so chic! And with the same paint treatment mentioned above - perfection! At $50, I'm tempted. Now, to find some interesting seating...

Here is a lovely option! At first I thought the damask could be too much with our floral sofa, but I think the neutral color might give it a pass? I'd add a bright throw pillow, and call it good. $225 seems reasonable for such a timeless piece. On to the next one...

I couldn't find a suitable slipper chair candidate on Craigslist, so I headed over to Etsy to have a look. There I found this sultry little vintage number for $250. Cute as a button! Next I need some table lamps...

Again, Etsy has the winners with this pair of vintage brown ceramic table lamps for $100. Done, and done. We still need a large, fairly neutral area rug to ground our whole vignette.

For this I hopped onto RugsUSA.com which has this lovely 7'6" x 9'6" hand tufted rug featuring our desired shades and similar motif to the dream picture for $1,198.00.... ouch. BUT WAIT! With their current promotion you can get this beauty for a mere $299 by entering the code CL75OFF to get 75% off! Nice! The finishing touches include throw pillows - something near and dear to my heart - and since I am now a member of the sewing community, I decided to go to fabric.com and see what the options are. They have this great Design Wall tool where you can collect swatches of the fabrics you like to see how they work together. Here are the winning options according to me:

All that's left are some flowers and a few pretty coffee table books and you've got your own Atlanta living room!
